Elections director Ruth Huneycutt passes, staff to honor almost 50 year legacy

Davidson County election seasons will be different without longtime Director Ruth Huneycutt. The county legend known for her dedication to elections was first hired on October 29, 1973.

According to a statement from The Davidson County Board of Elections.

“Upon the untimely and sad loss of Board of Elections Director Ruth Huneycutt, the Board of Elections has met in Closed Session and announces that Assistant Director Andrew Richards has been named as Interim Board of Elections Director, subject to approval by the State Board of Elections, pursuant to the North Carolina General Statutes.”

“Ruth loved elections. She loved serving the people of Davidson County…{ she wanted} honest fair elections. She dedicated her life to that. Great mentor, amazing director, and amazing person as well,”  said Deputy Director Andrew Richards.
