Meet our newest intern: Julie Thayer
Greetings! My name is Julie Thayer, and I have recently joined the Davidson Local team as a reporter, graphic designer, video editor and Spanish translator. I am very excited to be a part of this team, knowing it will aid in improving my writing, translating and journalism skills.
I pride myself on my work ethic, reliability and resilience. Currently, I am a student at Guilford Technical Community College studying criminal justice in hopes of becoming a criminal lawyer.
Fortunately, I was able to receive my Criminal Justice Technology Certificate of Foundations when I graduated from Thomasville Senior High School as Salutatorian in 2023, and I can obtain my associate’s degree in one year instead of two.
In my free time, I like to read and write poetry, draw, exercise, and eat pork dumplings. My favorite authors of poetry are Courtney Peppernell and Robert M. Drake.
I am also obsessed with makeup. In the past, I participated for eight years in Mixed Martial Arts, and one year of Mexican Folklore Dance, which are two fun activities that I enjoy. If there’s one specific thing that I would like to share about myself with the public, it would be that I absolutely hate finding hair in my food, as I easily get nauseous. Yuck!
Other than that, I am looking forward to sharing my work with you all.
Editor’s Note: Julie is our second intern currently working with Davidson Local. We are always searching for students interested in learning the ins and outs of journalism and welcome inquiries. If you are interested, please email us at info@davidsonlocal.com. Please keep in mind slots are limited, but we’d love to hear from you.
