Family, friends and community pay respects to Charles "Cha Cha" Woodberry
A Tribute to Charles "Cha Cha" Woodberry
With heavy hearts yet fond memories, we celebrate the life of our beloved classmate, Charles "Cha Cha" Woodberry. Known by many names—Charles, Chuck, Allah—he was a force of energy, a beacon of joy, and the life of every gathering. His presence lit up any room, and when the music started, you could count on Cha Cha to set the tone. His signature dance moves, inspired by his idol Michael Jackson, will forever be etched in our hearts.
Cha Cha’s love for music was boundless, spanning heavy metal, soft rock, rap, R&B, and everything in between. One of the most cherished moments we will always laugh and reminisce about is his unforgettable performance in the LSHS Class of 1989 band during the school talent show, delivering a rendition of It Takes Two that has remained legendary through the years.
As a proud member of the NCHSAA State 2A Basketball 1988 State Championship and a Yellow Jackets football player, Cha Cha was a true competitor and dedicated athlete. His love for the game extended beyond Lexington, as he passionately supported the Duke Blue Devils, Dallas Cowboys, and Notre Dame. His loyalty and pride in his teams mirrored the unwavering spirit he carried throughout his life.
The LSHS Class of 1989 has always been more than just classmates—we are a family. We have lifted each other up, celebrated together, and mourned together. Today, we honor a brother who embodied the spirit of our class and our community. Though he may no longer be physically with us, his laughter, his dance moves, his love for life, and his unwavering school spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
Rest easy, Cha Cha. You will always be a part of us. #AlwaysInOurHearts
