Farm Fest organizers: Come rain or shine

Lexington Farmers Market organizers are set to host the first annual Farm Fest benefiting local farmers. Rain or shine, admission is free for this family-friendly event on Saturday, October 1st from 4 to 10 p.m. at Bull City Ciderworks in Lexington.

The event will feature music by Vandergrift, unlimited farm games for kids and adults with a $5 wristband and a new Bull City Cider release made with Lexington honey. Bull City Ciderworks will donate $1 per pint purchased at the event.

The Farm to Table dinner by Chef Michael Morefield and Lexington Farmers Market vendors (Limited to 30 people) has a few slots open for purchase. Get tickets here!

All funds raised will go toward making fresh, locally grown and produced foods available to all.

Organizers say the event will move forward regardless of the weather, noting that Bull City Ciderworks has ample indoor space for scheduled activities.

They remind consumers that local farmers deal with unpredictable weather every day.

"Lexington Farm Fest is going on as planned on Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m. If the rain and wind are light, we'll have games and other fun activities on the covered patios at Bull City Ciderworks," Farmers Market president Kivi Leroux Miller said.

"If the weather is really uncooperative, the taproom has ample space inside. We'll probably just run one or two games at a time instead of doing a bunch at once like we could do outside. We have a lot of great Lexington businesses sponsoring games with awesome prizes for kids and adults, so it's almost like a mini farm-inspired Olympics!"
