Addie's Column: Holiday Farmers Market set for Dec. 2nd

The year is winding down! The weather is getting colder, holidays are approaching, and we’re preparing ourselves for what awaits us in 2024. Although the temperature has dropped significantly, the Lexington Holiday Farmers Market is in full swing! With local goods and delights such as farm fresh vegetables, meats, baked goods, eggs, jams, and crafts, all hand-made and curated by participating vendors, there is an abundance of quality goods to choose from! The market is set to take place on December 2nd from 9 am until 2 pm at the Depot District, 29 S. Railroad Street.

Even though we’re well past the time for harvest, that has not deterred the Farmer’s Market vendors from providing quality goods for all! One such vendor is Silwood Soaps! Silwood Soaps is a local business that specializes in crafting high-quality soap products with all-natural ingredients that have a soothing effect and a lovely aroma. Established in 2020, Silwood Soaps has become a remarkable and charming business, holding to its goal of making high-quality soaps more accessible and widespread. In the spirit of the festive season, Silwood Soaps are offering specially molded festive soaps. Depicting snowmen and snowflakes, alongside a scent perfectly on theme: peppermint!

Alongside soaps, the Holiday Market will also have local handmade goods such as woodcarvings. Papa Ted’s Workshop is a local business that will be participating in the holiday market. They specialize in creating one-of-a-kind and beautiful woodwork pieces with a polished finish and final look. Ranging from bowls to sculptures to kitchen utensils, Papa Ted’s Workshop has a fine plethora of goods to choose from that would leave anyone satisfied with the product.

With the upcoming holidays, the question of “What to gift” comes to the forefront of many people’s minds. Luckily for those many people, Rierson Farm, a vendor for the Holiday Market, provides just the answer! Even though it is a farm, they offer many goods outside of food products and goods during the off-season of harvest. They offer a variety of artisanal goods, such as self-care products such as goat milk soaps and body butters, home goods items such as beeswax candles and melts, hand-painted original illustrations on a variety of canvases, and delightful crocheted hats with charming designs.

As the year comes to a close we celebrate our successes and happiness with our loved ones during the holidays. So this year, consider taking the time to drop by the Holiday Market and pick up a thoughtful gift for a loved one. On Saturday, December 2nd, from 9 am to 2 pm, try to stop by for the Holiday Market. Who knows, you might find something amazing!
