Op-Ed: No Red Wave

Op-Ed: No Red Wave

The primary elections are over and our county now has the candidates that will challenge to represent us in local, state, and federal offices. It’s time for Americans to focus on defeating a wave of extremism at work at tearing down nearly 250 years of freedom. The elections from here on out have never been more important in which to be involved!

Our nation, state, and county really do hang in the balance this fall. When the Chair of Davidson County GOP says, “Our actions, or inactions, will determine the course our society takes for the foreseeable future.” I agree wholeheartedly! But from that point on we diverge.

He speaks of a Red Wave. I think the Red Wave is a warning for us all. I close my eyes and I see the wave of blood flooding the halls, straight out of a scene in a Kubrick film! I write this on the 4 th of July amidst the hours of updates all day long on Independence Day from another mass shooting. This one targeted Americans celebrating together our Independence from tyranny. We face a new kind of tyranny today.

I can’t wipe the picture of a Red Wave from my mind as I think of all the girls and women who will die from unsafe abortions, suicide, at the hands of those who don’t want them to give birth, and those who will die due to lack of access to healthcare in a first world country with rising maternal and fetal death rates.

They speak of rising gas prices but vote against relief from price gouging. They attempt to villainize law makers while those they support are under criminal investigation. Now more than ever in our lives and the lives of those who marched, fought, and died to secure our Freedom, we need to come out in great numbers to defeat the Tyranny of the Red Wave.

Third Vice Chair, North Carolina 8 th Congressional District Democratic Party The Davidson County Democratic Party meets remotely in the interest of safety for our most vulnerable on the first Thursday of each month. Please contact us at DavidsonCountyDems@yahoo.com to get information on how to attend. All registered Democrats and like-minded Unaffiliated voters are welcome to attend!
