New Series: Give Work a Chance
Many companies in the area are struggling to fill positions in this extremely tight labor market. We also know many Davidson Local readers are under inflationary pressure to produce more income. We’re delighted to announced Davidson Local’s new weekly series called ‘Give Work a Chance.’
As a Lexington native and national award-winning writer, I will be cranking out dozens of future articles to help employers find talent and help Davidson County residents rise above poverty.

NUCOR steel mill in Davidson County will begin hiring in March of 2023. To help locals better understand what jobs and skills are desired by NUCOR Steel company, we asked them to share insights into these jobs.

What products will NUCOR Steel produce at the Davidson County Steel Mill? Rebar
What type of positions do you desire to fill? Entry level Production, Shift Mechanics, Sales Reps
How many workers do you need? Approximately 150
What prerequisites are desired for the candidates? The majority of the positions we will have posted in March will be entry level positions, so being at least 18 years old will be the main prerequisites.
What personal attributes do you desire? We look for candidates who are safety orientated, have integrity, team focused, and who want to learn.
What duties will these workers perform? The entry level Production teammates will be taught varies production roles.
What are the compensation ranges? The average salary for our Nucor Steel Lexington Mill will be $99,600/year
What benefits will be available? Medical, Vision, Dental, 401k, Profit Sharing, Parental Leave, Tuition reimbursement, stock program, scholarships, etc...
