A photo gallery: Lexington Fire Department displays its new 'Ladder 1'

The Lexington Fire Department offered passersby a real treat on Thursday evening. Parked outside of Station 1 on E. Center St. was the newest truck of their fleet, ‘Ladder 1.’ The old ‘Ladder 1’, which the department received in 2008, will enter into “the reserves.”

Firefighter Preston Forrestt shared with Davidson Local that the department has had the truck approximately a month. He noted its equipped with LED lightning, new technology and runs smoother. Sgt. JR Everhart stated ‘Ladder 1’ will be going into operation the first week of October. Currently, members of the department are in training, learning how to operate the firetruck.

An article about the new truck is forthcoming. To see video of the truck in action, visit our Facebook page. All photos are by Kassaundra Shanette Lockhart for Davidson Local.
