Angel Tree program provides joy for local children and families in need

“IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS” AT THE SALVATION ARMY

Lexington, NC (November 1st, 2022)— The Salvation Army’s 2022 Angel Tree program is officially kicking off November 1 st . This year The Salvation Army of Davidson County has committed to providing gifts to almost 1,100 children and over 400 families. The Angel Tree Program provides new clothing and toys for children of families in need through the support of community donors.

Found in local companies and corporations, Angel Trees are decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age, and gender of a child. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags. For people who would like to sponsor (adopt) an angel, Angel Trees will be around the community from November 1st through December 5th at 10 different locations throughout Davidson County; Lexington Public Library, Kickin Creations Artisan Market Lexington, Lexington Souvenir Shoppe, North Davidson Public Library, West Davidson Public Library, FUEL Tyro, Thomasville Public Library, BL Makers Market Thomasville, Natures Cottage Thomasville and Vision Dance and Cheer Thoamsville. We are blessed to be part of a community that is willing to share that kind of joy with others.”

The Salvation Army of Davidson County is also looking for volunteers—individual and groups—to bring joy to children this Christmas season through the Angel Tree program at their Distribution Center.

Opportunities range from sorting toys at the Angel Tree Center to assisting in the Angel Tree adoption process. Volunteer opportunities are November 21 st to December 16 th .

Businesses and community organizations that would like to adopt angels or volunteer at the Christmas distribution center can contact Laura Goins at 336-481-7324 ext. 3 or laura.goins@uss.salvationarmy.org.
