Eat, drink and be lucky!

Uptown Lexington wants people to eat, drink and be lucky for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day holiday.

Starting on Thursday, March 17, and running through Saturday, March 19, people can win a “Pot of Gold” gift basket from Uptown Lexington and neighboring Depot District businesses by participating in a “Bites, Bars and Breweries Crawl.”

The three-day marketing promotion, called “Luck in Lexington,” encourages people to patronize participating restaurants, food vendors, bars and breweries for a meal, a drink or both. Participants in the contest will pick up a stamp card at participating businesses and have it stamped at four different establishments they patronize and enter the card in a drawing for a gift basket.

The gift basket will include gift cards and merchandise from a number of local businesses, not just those participating in the “crawl.”

“We’re really excited about it,” said Jacob Gordon, executive director of Uptown Lexington, the nonprofit organization that advances the revitalization of historic uptown Lexington. “We think it’s going to be a big success.”

Gordon said the organization had a similar but much smaller “Boo Crawl” during the annual Boo Bash event uptown at Halloween this past fall. Attendees got stamped cards at several bars and breweries in order to be entered into a drawing for a prize.

The “Bites, Bars and Breweries Crawl” is a trifecta of fun and includes 24 restaurants, food vendors, bars and breweries. Joining in are Roots on Main, Village Grill, Red Donuts, Yummy Botana, Perfect Blend Coffee, The Eatery, Black Chicken Coffee, Bam Nutrition, Café 35, Pour Folk Provisions Co., Factory Coffee and Waffles, Candy Factory, Snow Days, Bagels and More on Main, Main Street Deli, Sinfully Delicious, Butcher’s Block, 2nd & Main, Sophie’s Cork & Ale, Brewer’s Kettle, Smoke and Oak, High Rock Outfitters, Bull City Ciderworks and Goose and The Monkey Brewhouse.

“We wanted to go beyond bars and bring in ‘bites’ at restaurants and coffee shops,” Gordon noted. “And we wanted to do it over three days. I think it will get more people involved as well as more businesses involved.

“Our audience has grown so we wanted something for everyone,” he added. “We have multiple audiences — young professionals, older adults, families.

“We’re also hoping people will go into our traditional retail establishments while they’re out.”

Hosted by Uptown Lexington, sponsors for the event are 2nd & Main and Kinetic by Windstream.
