Breaking News: Lexington Middle School delays opening due to threat of violence
Lexington Middle School is operating on a two-hour delay Wednesday morning, October 11. Tuesday evening, October 10, the school district was made aware of a social media threat of violence. According to Lexington City Schools (LCS) Superintendent Dr. Nakia Hardy, Lexington Police Department (LPD) was notified promptly when the system was made aware of the threat. As a result, the LCS administration opted for the delay.
Additional law enforcement will be present at the school today. Hardy assured the community that LCS will continue to work in collaboration with LPD and asked the to community remain vigilant during this time.
All other schools within the LCS district are operating on a regular schedule.
