Callicutt resigns as CEES Principal, takes job in Guilford County

On Tuesday, July 18, Guilford County Schools announced they’d hired Beth Callicutt as the new principal of Allen Jay Elementary effective September 1. Callicutt has served as the principal of Charles England Elementary School since 2019. Her last day at CEES has yet to be determined.

Callicutt issued a statement to Davidson Local regarding her tenure at Lexington City Schools:

“I am a native of Lexington, having grown up here and graduating from Lexington City Schools. After college, I returned to LCS where I have had the honor of serving as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal and current principal of Charles England Elementary School.

My passion has always been to serve kids, as both a teacher and school leader, and I strive to remain open to new ideas and professional opportunities that will lead to my continued growth in this capacity. This desire for growth has led me down a new path, and I am pleased to announce that I will be joining Guilford County Schools as the proud new principal of Allen Jay Elementary. In addition to the career advancement opportunities Guilford County Schools offers, I will also be involved with the planning and construction of a new school building for Allen Jay students and families. I have not yet had this type of experience and am excited about the chance to be a part of the development of an innovative new learning environment for the Allen Jay faculty and students.

I am deeply humbled by the outpouring of love and encouragement I have received from my Lexington City Schools family and the community, my CEES family especially! I will continue to support both the community and the wonderful staff, students and families of LCS. While life may take you in directions different than you ever expected, one thing holds true. Once a Jacket, always a Jacket.

LCS shared the following statement about Callicutt’s departure, vacancies and goals:

"We appreciate our educators’ service to our students and community.  We thank Principal Beth Callicutt, POY-2022, for her invaluable contributions to Lexington City Schools and wish her the very best in her future endeavors. The impact of her leadership will be felt for years to come, and her commitment to our students' success will always be remembered.

We expect to have our vacant positions filled soon.  Our Lexington City Schools will provide a rigorous, innovative, learning experience for every student, every day, in every classroom to allow students to maximize their individual potential.  We are very excited about the upcoming school year."
