Celebrate National Library Week
During the week of Monday, April 8th to Saturday, April 13th, the Davidson County Public Library will observe National Library Week. During this time, replacement library cards will be free.
This year’s theme is “Ready, Set, Library!” The Davidson County Public Library’s Mission Statement is “to provide resources and services for reading, thinking, learning, and living.”
A Davidson County Public Library card is a gateway to a plethora of resources including books, audiobooks, DVDs and Blu-Ray, Magazines, and WiFi hotspots. Library branches offer many free family activities like movie screenings, cooking classes, and so much more. Library card holders are also eligible for two free tickets to the North Carolina Zoo.
“Davidson County Public Library serves its community in locations throughout
Davidson County by providing free resources and programs to boost literacy, increase knowledge, make connections, and, basically, improve the quality of life for all citizens.
National Library Week helps bring awareness of these resources and services here and across the nation,” said Sheila Killebrew, Library Director.
The Davidson County Public Library has 5 branches located in Lexington (Lexington Public Library), Thomasville (Thomasville Public Library), Welcome (North Davidson Public Library), Denton (Denton Public Library), and Tyro (West Davidson Public Library). It also has a system-wide bookmobile along with the Davidson County Historical Museum.
