City of Lexington Fire Department responds to House Fire on E. Hemstead St.

LEXINGTON, NC – Lexington Fire Department was dispatched to a reported  house fire on East Hemstead Street Wednesday morning. 

Dispatchers informed firefighters that the caller reported all occupants had  evacuated. Crews arrived at 11:31 am to find a single-story house with fire and  smoke coming from the windows. Firefighters quickly began extinguishing the fire  and searching to ensure no victims were still inside. The fire was brought under  control by 11:46 am. 

The Lexington Fire Marshal’s office began investigating the cause of the fire as firefighters continued their work. At this time, the cause of the fire is still under  investigation. 

Crews remained on the scene for approximately two hours, putting out hotspots,  conducting the investigation, and collecting information. Lexington Fire  Department contacted the Red Cross to assist the occupants who were displaced by  the fire. No injuries were reported.
