City of Lexington Fire Department responds to two residential fires
LEXINGTON, NC – On May 1, 2022, at approximately 6:04 pm, Lexington Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Eastside Drive. A few hours later, at 10:43 pm, crews responded to a residential structure fire on Pond Street.
Lexington Fire Department arrived at the home on Eastside Drive to find smoke and fire coming from the home's front door. Firefighters searched the house, and all tenants were out of the building. During the search, firefighters located and rescued two cats, three ferrets, and a bearded dragon. Crews quickly gained access and deployed attack lines to extinguish the fire. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes.
Fire and smoke damage was sustained throughout the home. The utilities were secured, and Red Cross was notified for assistance.
There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by The City of Lexington Fire Marshal's Office.
A few hours later, Lexington Fire Department arrived at the home on Pond Street to find smoke and heavy fire coming through the roof. Crews quickly deployed a master stream and attack lines to extinguish the fire but could not search the home due to fire conditions and structural integrity. The fire was under control in about 30 minutes. The house had not been occupied in two months.
The home sustained fire damage and smoke damage. There were two additional homes and a vehicle that had suffered damage from the fire. Lexington Utilities secured the utilities.
There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is Under Investigation by The City of Lexington Fire Marshal's Office.
