Women's History Month: Thomasville Fire Department celebrates female firefighters

Thomasville Fire & Rescue would like to send out a special thank you to our female firefighters. Thank you to the dedicated, hard-working women: our coworkers, sisters, aunts, mothers and friends. We appreciate all you do!

The following words are from our very own.

“I know that this job isn’t what every woman might dream of but, representation matters and we strive to be just like the community we serve. I am honored/proud to be apart of the fire service, while surrounded by great men/women who I work alongside of. I am very blessed to have such a rewarding career, be the change you want to see.” Firefighter I Hoover.

“Being a firefighter is the most rewarding job in the world. Each day I get to do what I love and help protect my hometown while working beside my best friends.” Firefighter II Lockhart.

“It’s an honor being a firefighter. I don’t consider myself any different than the others because every day I receive the same respect that I give out. It is a very rewarding job and I come home from work with a lot of gratitude knowing that I am able to serve the community in one of the best ways possible regardless of gender!” Firefighter II Lambeth
