Davidson County man arrested for brandishing sawed-off shotgun
Willie Johnson of Thomasville was arrested on September 21st by Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division who responded to 140 Ellwood Circle after receiving calls concerning an intoxicated man who was walking up and down the road with a sawed-off shotgun and shooting out the door of his mobile home.
When Deputies arrived, they encountered Johnson walking down Lacy Hepler Road with a shotgun. Johnson was reported to have ignored commands from the Deputies asking him to remain in place, drop the weapon and cooperate. He continued to walk away from Deputies, who after a brief standoff, were able to convince Johnson to drop the weapon.
Johnson was taken into custody with the assistance of a taser used by the Deputies because he became combative and continued to resist and to be non-compliant. Johnson was charged with:
Possession of Firearm by Felon
Possession of Weapon of Mass Destruction
Going Armed to the Terror of Public
Resisting Arrest
Communicating Threats
Drunk and Disorderly
Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
Willie Johnson is presently in the Davidson County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond with an October 7th court date.
