Davidson County Public Library kicks off the summer reading program
The Davidson County Public Library announces the beginning of the 2024 summer reading program.
The Davidson County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program for this year is themed, “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” The theme highlights the importance of libraries in sparking imagination and the adventurous spirit that lives within all.
“Davidson County Public Library’s summer reading program provides readers of all levels an opportunity to reignite or discover a love of reading. The programs, games, and prizes focus on fun because reading is fun but just as importantly, it is an essential life skill the library strives to nurture,” said Sheila Killebrew, library director.
Participants of all ages who register at their local branch will experience programs and events which highlight the excitement of adventure. Branches will kickoff summer reading with celebrations featuring magic, games and activities. Example programs include family movie screenings, crafts, interactive story times and much, much more.
The Davidson County Public Library system has 5 branches located in Lexington, Thomasville, Denton, North Davidson (Welcome) and West Davidson (Tyro).
The dates for each branch’s summer reading program are as follows:
Lexington Public Library (Monday, 6/15- Friday, 7/26)
Thomasville Public Library (Monday, 6/15- Saturday, 8/10)
North Davidson Public Library (Thursday, 6/13- Friday, 7/26)
Denton Public Library (Monday, 6/10- Thursday, 7/25)
West Davidson Public Library (Thursday, 6/13-Friday, 7/19).
Registration for each branch begins on the following dates:
Lexington (Saturday, 6/1)
Thomasville (Saturday, 6/1)
North Davidson (Tuesday, 5/28)
Denton (Saturday, 6/1)
West Davidson (Monday, 6/10).
