Davidson County Railroad Project requires multiple road closures
DENTON – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close several roads in Davidson County beginning next week for a railroad maintenance project.
The following closures are necessary to allow CSX crews to replace railroad tracks and county maintenance crews to repair asphalt on the roads:
Nov. 28-30, Old Highway 109 will be closed between Emmons Mine Road and Hayes Harris Road north of Denton. Traffic will be detoured to Hayes Harris, Tysinger and Emmons Mine roads.
Nov. 30 – Dec. 5, Julian Avenue will be closed near N.C. 109/Randolph Street. Traffic will be detoured to N.C. 109/Randolph Street, East Holly Hill Road and back to Julian Avenue.
Dec. 12-14, N.C. 109 will be closed near Regan Road north of Denton. Traffic will be detoured to Regan Road and Old Highway 109 to return to N.C. 109.
Dec. 13-16, N.C. 109/Randolph Street in Thomasville will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Julian Avenue and East Holly Hill Road to return to N.C. 109/Randolph Street.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and use extra caution while adjusting to detour routes.
