Davidson County School's performance data 2023-2024
Student performance data for Davidson County School’s 2023-2024 school year was presented to the North Carolina Board of Education on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Davidson Local received the following information through a press release from Davidson County Schools.
Southwood Elementary exceeded expected growth, while 12 other elementary schools met expected growth. Friedberg Elementary, Friendship Elementary, and Wallburg Elementary all earned “B” letter grades. while 12 other elementary schools earned “C” letter grades. Churchland Elementary exited the state designation of “low-performing”, showing gains in proficiency.
Central Davidson Middle School and North Davidson Middle School each exceeded expected growth and two other middle schools met expected growth. North Davidson Middle School earned a “B” letter grade, while four other middle schools earned “C” letter grades. Central Davidson Middle School exited the state designation of “low-performing”, showing gains in proficiency and growth.
Davidson Early College High School exceeded expected growth and earned an “A” letter grade, while three other high schools met expected growth. Four high schools earned “B” letter grades, and the remaining five high schools earned “C” letter grades. Five of the ten high schools have proficiency scores above 70%. Three high schools experienced increases in ACT scores, and five high schools showed increases in WorkKeys performance, with East Davidson High School showing a positive improvement of 24.2 points. The four-year graduation rate improved in six of the 10 high schools, up from a district average of 84.3% in 2022-2023 to 85.8% in 2023-2024.
Davidson Early College High School’s graduation rate is 100%, North Davidson High School’s graduation rate is 94.6%, and Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy’s graduation rate is 94.3%.
In addition to test data released, Davidson County Schools is proud to boast a chronic absenteeism rate of 14% as compared to the state average of 27%.
While the data acquired from test scores does not portray a complete picture or measure of a school’s success, it is critical in assessing what is working and what needs development in our schools, as we are always seeking improvement.
Staff members in every position impact and influence student success. The improvements in student achievement revealed in the recent data release are a result of the hard work of our school staff members and the administrators who support them. Davidson County Schools is beyond fortunate to have staff members who first love their students.
