Davidson Duck Derby to benefit Arc of Davidson's programming
The first-ever Davidson Duck Derby to support programs benefitting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be held at Elevated Wake Park May 14th from 1-4pm. Rubber ducks that have been “adopted” will race to the finish line. First place finisher nets $500, second place an Igloo cooler filled with summer goodies, third place $100 in Amazon gift cards.
“The Arc has been unable to hold an in-person fundraising event since 2019,” said Executive Director Teresa McKeon. “Thanks to the creativity of the Fundraising Committee, this unique event provides outside fun for the family while raising funds.” Bounce houses, corn hole, face painting, and other games will be on hand at no cost, along with Sunset Slush and Snickety Snacks food trucks to purchase refreshments. Depending on temperature, water activities may also be available.
Ducks are “adopted” by donors, 1 duck for $10 and 3 ducks for $25. At 2pm, rubber ducks will be dropped into the pond and the race will be on! Those interested in adopting a duck may go to https://duckderby2022.square.site/.
McKeon said, “Without the support of our Presenting Sponsor Rush Rolling State Farm as well as Grand Sponsor Novant Health, this event would not be possible.”
Diamond sponsors are RH RCPs LLC, and Mantle Realty. Platinum sponsors include Boonedox, HomeTrust Bank, Kinetic, and Mountcastle Insurance, while Gold Sponsor are Coastland and Truist. March Motorcars is a Bronze Sponsor.
The Arc of Davidson County is committed to securing for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to choose and realize their goals of where and how they learn, live, work and play.
