LEXINGTON – Candidate applications are now being accepted for apprenticeship programs offered through the Davidson and Davie Apprenticeship Consortium (DDAC).
These paid apprenticeships are offered in partnership with several local manufacturing companies and Davidson-Davie Community College. The manufacturing companies involved include BMK Americas, CMP Wolverine Proctor, EGGER Wood Products, Ingersoll Rand, KURZ Transfer Products, and Mohawk Industries.
The Class of 2026 will enter a four-year program to prepare them for a future in electrical or mechanical manufacturing. There is also a two-year certificate program for production operation.
“A paid apprenticeship through DDAC is a great way for someone to continue their education, make a competitive salary and secure their future,” said Michael Holmes, EGGER Wood Products corporate training manager. “An added bonus is there is no student debt incurred. The manufacturers cover the cost of college.”
Apprentices attend school one day a week and receive on-the-job training four days each week. The program includes competitive pay, a full benefits package, a debt-free two-year associate’s certificate upon completion, and eligibility for full-time employment upon graduation.
The DDAC was formed in 2019. Between the DDAC partner, companies there are currently 44 apprentices.
