Snow set to hit Davidson County, prompting cancellations and service adjustments

Residents of Davidson County should prepare for a wintry start to their day as meteorologists predict snow will begin as early as daybreak on Wednesday, between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Initially, light snow flurries will give way to more persistent snow showers throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to drop into the lower 20s by Wednesday night, with snow showers picking up again on Thursday morning before tapering off by Thursday afternoon.

Impact on Schools and Local Services

In light of the forecast, all schools in the area have transitioned to remote learning. Parents and students are advised to check their school websites for the latest updates and additional details regarding the schedule changes.

The City of Lexington has also announced adjustments to its trash and recycling services. On the morning of February 19th, only trash and recycling collections will proceed, while yard waste will not be collected. City officials noted that although they will make every effort to complete the scheduled route, severe weather conditions may affect the overall completion of the route.

Residents are further encouraged to monitor local websites and official channels for any additional cancellations or changes to public services as the weather evolves.

As Davidson County braces for the winter storm, community members are reminded to exercise caution on the roads and stay updated.
