Denton: Explosion at construction plant still under investigation

Sept 17th, around 3:23 p.m., fire crews with the Healing Springs Fire Department were called to the scene of an explosion. J.T. Russell & Sons is a family owned highway construction company that offers a variety of asphalt products and services.

According to Denton Police there were no injuries at the facility or evacuations.

Officials have provided no information on the cause of the explosion.

According to one account on social media…” A HUGE thud that shook my house …I looked around to see if a giant tree fell (that’s kind of what it sounded like) but nothing… anybody else hear or feel that in the neighborhood,” said one resident. “It wasn’t one of the infamous ‘Denton Booms’ that folks report so often… this was different…”
