Faith and Fellowship: The Heart of God

Faith and Fellowship: The Heart of God

Valentine’s Day is a day of love, a day that deals with the heart. There is no biblical reference why Christians, should not celebrate Valentine’s Day by giving their love ones flowers, candy and or cards. As with celebrating any holiday, the decision should be between the individual and God.

Some people feel very strongly that observing any secular holiday is wrong, whereas some people may see it as harmless. The important thing to remember is that celebrating or not celebrating holidays should not be a cause for pride or division amongst believers. The heart of God does not have a respect of person.

1 Samuel 16:7 teaches us “Man looks on the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart”. God sees your heart; He knows such great truth, we must remember and keep our hearts aligned with the heart of God. Proverbs 17:22 says “ A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones”. When there is joy in our hearts, it can’t help but to spill out to those around us.

The heart of God is so powerful. The heart leads to salvation. To have a peaceful, joyful heart we must stay in the presence of God through prayer and communion with him. We, as believers, must keep our mind stayed on God and his grace over our lives. Salvation begins with believing in the heart. Romans 10:10 “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

The heart of God will make room for our issues and concerns. God’s heart is wide open to each and everyone of us. Let us open our heart to God. What God knows about us is more important than what others think of us; God knows our heart.

Dear God we will praise you with our whole heart and you alone deserve all the glory!

May God so richly bless!
