There will be many young farmers as vendors on Young Farmers Day, at the Lexington Farmers Market with one being Kilee Moore. Hailing from Rierson Farms, Moore originally had no experience with the agricultural world, starting off as an intern for the farm through the Davidson Davie Community College Sustainable Agriculture Program. Throughout her time at Rierson Farms, Moore fell in love with the agricultural and farming world, developing a passion for tending to and caring for all sorts of plants and produce. Following her graduation next month, she plans to continue at Rierson Farms in the Sustainable Agriculture Program for 2024-2025.

Another promising young farmer is Tristen Bright. Hailing from West Davidson High School, Bright has been working for Crossings Farm for almost a year. While being described as one of the more quiet members of the team, Bright has flourished while working at Crossings Farm. He favors the duty of feeding and tending to the animals, especially the baby cattle. In the future, Bright aims to study animal biology, specifically their digestion and growth patterns. Overall, Bright is excited to continue his studies in the agricultural field and grow his career at Crossings Farm.

Sarah Shoaf will also be at Young Farmers Day. Shoaf, is a student at NC State, with a major in Genetics and a minor in Animal Science. She has been a dedicated worker for Crossings Farm for the past two years, working in between breaks at college. Throughout the years, Shoaf does almost every single task on the farm, with her specializing in running the Crossings Farm Store. But lately, she can mostly be found at the Thomasville Farmers Market, making sure everyone receives what they need with the quality service that they deserve.

Visit the Lexington Farmers Market and support your local young farmers. By supporting promising. passionate minds we can further our communal growth and help to build a better future.
