The Cory Holt & Eric Brown Football Camp, held on Saturday, June 26 at Lexington Senior High School’s (LSHS) Philpott Memorial Stadium was a morning full of drills, fun and a special visit by an NFL legend.

There were 136 campers from the Triad, Charlotte and Columbia, SC that attended. They participated in blocking, passing, receiving and running drills. Midway through the camp, the Carolina Panthers all-time leading receiving and member of the team’s Hall of Honor, Steve Smith, Sr., made an appearance much to the delight of campers, coaches and parents. Smith was an active participant and shared his knowledge of the game while offering up words of encouragement.

Holt, a LSHS graduate, was excited to be able to have the camp this year and have Smith attend.

“It was an amazing day for all involved. This was the first time a lot of these kids were around the game of football in 18 months, due to COVID last year. This is our third year hosting the football camp, and this was by far the best one yet. It was good to have Steve Smith as the special guest. He participated in drills and provided a lot of great insight to the kids that they could relate to. A special thanks to Gerard Littlejohn, executive director of The Steve Smith Family Foundation, for making this possible.”

After the camp, participants were treated to lunch by Seafood Destiny.

“It was a great day for football in Lexington,” said Brown, head football coach at LSHS. “The energy and athletes allowed the summer to feel normal again. I was happy to be apart of this event and look forward to many more with the Cory Holt Foundation.”

Sponsors of the camp include:
- Seafood Destiny
- Food Lion
- Wake Forest Baptist Health
- Domino's Pizza
- Countless others in the community who donated monetarily

Holt expressed his sincere thanks to LSHS, all of those who donated and the city of Lexington for coming together to make this a special day!
