Dear Friends,

The district is gearing up to celebrate the memory of Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 20th. Below we have some events happening through Davidson and Davie counties throughout the weekend that you won't want to miss!

Also happening Monday is the Inauguration Ceremony of President Donald Trump, 45th President of the United States and 47th President-elect. I am honored to have been invited to the inauguration ceremony, and will be sure to provide updates on my trip via social media and next week's newsletter, so make sure to check out my Instagram, Facebook, and X and report back next week for pictures!

A new long session brings new interns and this time around we have a familiar face back in the office. Kayla Grogan, who interned in our Raleigh office during the summer of 2023, is rejoining my office as an intern for her last semester of her senior year. We are excited to have her back in the office! You can hear from Kayla in the section below.

The Senate page program is still accepting applications, which we will have linked below. We would love to host you for a week in Raleigh, providing an invaluable opportunity to learn and interact with the legislative process and meet fellow legislators from all over the State of North Carolina.

With the recent winter weather throwing a wrench in routine school schedules, Davidson County Superintendent Dr. Gregg Slate supplied Davidson County Schools with a letter combing over the factors that go into altering daily school operations. While the letter was intended for Davidson County Schools families, we encourage everyone with a student to give the letter a read in order to shine light on the process in order to provide full transparency.

Are you a non-profit or for-profit organization operating within Davie County? Good news! There are three grants being provided to enhance local experiences and drive economic development. Check out the article below for more information!

As always, we hope you have a restful weekend with your family. We continue to be a resource if ever needed, please reach out via email or telephone!
