GIVE WORK A CHANCE: Thank you!

GIVE WORK A CHANCE: Thank you!

To all of the new and regular readers of this Davidson Local column: GIVE WORK A CHANCE- thank you all for reading this unique series designed to help area companies find talent and uplift more citizens.

We have published over 15 columns. I really appreciate your encouragement to continue these twice a week messages designed to inform, provide insight and inspire people to do more to grow our area's economy. In a short period of time, these columns are gaining support for workforce development initiatives and inspiring more to implement new approaches for resolving the skills shortages.

This column was originally my tribute to Greta Anita Lint (GAL), the  former Lexington Visitors Bureau executive director and avid freelance writer for several newspapers and magazines.  Lint lost her battle with cancer last August. Many say the best way to pay tribute to someone is to emulate their best attributes. So, as her life partner for over 20 years, I asked Davidson Local to give me a chance to write a column on workforce development as a guest writer. Little did I know how therapeutic this experience would become to cope with her loss and how powerful an impact these columns would make to the community.

I am extremely grateful to the team at Davidson Local welcoming me to their family of contributors and have some exciting news to announce. We are going to be encouraging area centers of influencers in the Davidson Local community to share these columns so more in the area will land these jobs. So the new intern team at Davidson Local will be compiling a list and we will be sending out special announcements regularly to help area employers fill their openings and grow their operations. Want to help? Please share these columns via your social media outlets and encourage more to subscribe to Davidson Local.

We’re not only going to continue these uplifting columns by offering insight but will be leading new community support events. Join us August 24th from 4-7pm for the  GIVE WORK A CHANCE Job Fair where we will be offering prep sessions and job tips to help more succeed. Each Friday tune into the Job Coach Joel’s Tips.

Over the next several months I plan on speaking at area churches, civic groups, and schools to get more ready to GIVE WORK A CHANCE!

Thanks so much for all you have and will do to help area businesses grow!
