Honors award bestowed upon Hospice

LEXINGTON – For the seventh year in a row, Hospice of Davidson County has been recognized by HEALTHCAREfirst as a Hospice Honors award recipient, acknowledging the agency as a leader in providing hospice care.

HEALTHCAREfirst is the leading provider of Web-based home health and hospice software, outsourced billing and coding services, and advanced analytics.

The Hospice Honors program recognizes hospices providing the highest level of quality as measured from the caregiver’s point of view. Of over 4,000 hospice providers in the U.S., only 352 received honors or honors elite status.

Award criteria were based on Hospice CAHPS® (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey results for an evaluation period of October 2019 through September 2020. Each award recipient was identified by evaluating performance on a set of 24 quality indicator measures. Each CAHPS® survey measures several indicators surrounding patient experience such as getting timely help, communicating with family, treating patient with respect and more.

“In 2020, Hospice of Davidson County patients benefited from more than 25,000 visits in their homes or residences from our care team members,” said Hospice of Davidson County CEO, Laura Owen. “Thanks to our dedicated staff, we’re honored to receive this national recognition for the seventh consecutive year.”

Hospice of Davidson County cares for more than 130 patients every day in a variety of locations including private homes, long-term care and skilled-nursing facilities and at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House, the only inpatient hospice facility in Davidson County.
