It's back-to-school time and the Tyro community showed support for back-to-school with a unique welcome back drive.
Co-organizer Arianna Lester said, “I am excited about how many people came to support the community. The Tyro community came together to get goodie bags stuffed and paid for." She estimated the project at a $1500 or more value.
The group created 750 bags consisting of highlighters, pens, sticky pads, candy, pencils, local coupons from B&E's Ice Cream and Stamey's Barbecue.
Lester noted that earbuds were an added plus and shared Laniers Ace Hardware was a sponsor on many items.
Lester assured they will do this again next year.
"Since the students haven’t had a ‘normal year’ in three years, the community wanted to welcome them back with a goodie bag."
