Kara Cody and Kathy Sallee honored with Servant’s Heart Awards
Kara Cody and Kathy Sallee were recently presented the Servant’s Heart Award by Civitan International.
The award honors exemplary leadership, dedication and outstanding service in the fields of intellectual and developmentally different abilities.
Cody was recognized for 25 years of service and leadership to The Workshop of Davidson, Inc. Cody has been the executive administrator since 2018. Having previously served for nearly two decades as the assistant administrator along with numerous other duties including group home coordinator and compliance officer. The Workshop of Davidson, Inc. is a private nonprofit 501(3)c organization dedicated to the training of vocational, residential and life skills for intellectually and developmentally different abled citizens of Davidson County. The goal of the Workshop is to assist persons served to obtain objectives that enable them to reach their highest degree of self-sufficiency and quality of life.
Kathy Sallee has been a one-on-one service provider for the same client with different abilities for 22 years. The assignment began when her client was a student at Central Davidson Middle School and has continued into adulthood. Sallee is employed with Therapeutic Alternatives.
Civitan International’s clubs across the world take part in the Servant’s Heart Awards. This global awareness project honors people who support individuals with intellectual and developmentally different abilities. They may be professionals or volunteers and may include teachers, teacher assistants, paraprofessionals and therapists. Civitan International has ties to the creation of special education programs across the United States since the early 1950’s.
Chuck Bowman of Rockwell, and member of the Civitan International Board of Directors, presented the Servant’s Heart Awards. The local Civitan Clubs of Davidson County, Silver Valley, Thomasville and Welcome chose the recipients.
