LCS board elections will take place in March

The Lexington City School (LCS) Board of Education elections will be held on March 8, 2022 as stated in Senate Bill 150. This is the same date as the primary elections for county offices. The filing period for the LCS Board is from December 6 at noon to December 17 at noon.

The vacant seats will be  members who were elected in 2017 (Wards 4, 5, 6 and the at-large seat) and any seat where a member has indicated they will seek another elected position within the city. These members will continue to serve until the elections are complete and the new members are elected. North Carolina State Board of Elections Communication Specialist, Noah Grant, informed Davidson Local that terms will expire December 2, 2025.

Brent Wall (Ward 3) and John Burke (Ward 4) have announced their candidacy for Lexington City Council. According to board attorney, David Inabinett, they’ll be able to serve as board members while running for city council. If elected, they’ll have to resign from the board of education.
