Let us give thanks

We are to live with an attitude of gratitude and always turn and give thanks, to whom all blessings flow. The fruit of Thanksgiving reminds us of joy and generosity. So as the Thanksgiving holiday is upon us, we are reminded that we should always give thanks. 

We should not only give thanks once a year, but everyday, every moment we should always give thanks!

The Scripture teaches us in Romans 1:21, “For although they knew God, they did not honor him, but it became futile in their thinking and their foolish hearts were darkened.  Therefore, let us not be as the world we live in, for the world is always complaining and bitter with envy and frustration. For we as believers must always live with a heart of Thanksgiving. Let us give thanks for we know that God is good and his mercy endures for all generations. Give thanks always for everything!

As we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday we understand that this holiday means different things to different people. Thanksgiving means family and friends for some people. Thanksgiving means turkey and football for others. Whatever Thanksgiving means to you there is one thing for sure, Colossians 3:17 teaches us, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving Thanks to God the Father through him.” Let us therefore give thanks in all that we do. Our attitude and demeanor of approach toward God, should always be with a thankful heart and spirit.

When you lay your head upon your pillow at night, always give thanks. When you are with your family and friends, always give thanks. When you gather in church or your place of worship give thanks. Our prayers should always be filled with giving God thanks. Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will for you in Christ Jesus.

During this Thanksgiving season remember to count your blessings and name them one by one, giving thanks always.As we meditate on the word of God this week, let us remember that our hearts are stirred with joy this Thanksgiving. Remember always when we give thanks we focus on what we do have from God, that we do not deserve.

Let us give thanks always for it is what God requires.

God inhabits the praises of his people. Thanksgiving and praise keeps God on the scene.

Let us give thanks.
