Lexington Chamber holds annual meeting
The Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) hosted their 75th Annual Meeting Thursday evening, February 24 at the J. Smith Young YMCA. Lexington Mayor Newell Clark was the keynote speaker. Clark, who will not seek re-election this year, highlighted Lexington’s growth in his speech while noting the city still has room for improvement. “We have to reimagine how we do things,” Clark noted.
Mike Christofferson, who served as the chair of the chamber board last year, thanked outgoing board members before passing an abnormally, large gavel to incoming chair, Christa Weeks. In her remarks, Weeks shared her excitement in taking on the new role and thanked outgoing board members. She also presented an award to Christofferson.
The Outstanding Woman in the Community Award was presented to Tennie Tilley. She was introduced by her friend Paula Turlington. Terra Greene, city manager for Lexington, had the honor of giving the Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award to Todd Hunt. Both award winners stated they had no idea that was why they were in attendance.
