Lexington City Manager Terra Greene announces retirement
Lexington, NC – At the January 9, 2023 meeting, City Manager Terra Greene delivered advance professional notice to Lexington City Council of her retirement intent later in 2023. Ms. Greene has served in the City’s top leadership role since January 2019, as the first woman and tenth City Manager appointed by City Council in the City’s 88-year history of the position (ref. 1935). Ms. Greene’s public service career dedicated to the City of Lexington spans over 25 years with increasing levels of responsibility and lasting contributions.
From 2013 to 2018, she served as Assistant City Manager before taking her oath and accepting appointment as City Manager November 26, 2018. Earlier in her career beginning 2011, Ms. Greene served as Director of Financial and Information Services, a dual role associated with additional managerial responsibilities. She first joined the City of Lexington as Finance Director back in November 1997.
