The Lexington Farmers Market opened a new location on Tuesday, May 23. Located in Parkway Plaza, the evening market will be housed between Dollar Tree and Planet Fitness. Adorned with lights, a banner and fencing, the market celebrated the occasion with a ribbon cutting ceremony, food and beverage samples from Coach’s and yogurt from Sweet Frog.

Various vendors who vend at The Depot on Saturdays, through Piedmont Fresh and for special holiday markets were on hand with produce, baked goods, meats, dog treats and handcrafted items. The new venture is a collaboration between the market and the plaza which borders Interstate 85.

Kivi Leroux Miller, president of the Lexington Farmers Market previously stated, “When the Parkway Plaza owners approached us about adding a farmers market, we jumped at the opportunity. We love the idea of having a farmers market at this location, right off the interstate and in a bustling shopping area that so many people already visit regularly.”

Miller expects it will take some time for vendors and customers to make it a regular part of their routine, but she believes interest and participation will grow quickly and significantly.

Lexington Farmers Market at Parkway Plaza will be every Tuesday, at least through the end of August, from 5pm-8pm. SNAP EBT will be accepted at the market. Recipients will be eligible to ‘Double Your Dollars’ to acquire more spending power.
