Lexington, NC ‒ Beginning Tuesday, May 23, Lexington Parkway Plaza visitors will be able to shop for fresh, local produce, meats and artisan goods on Tuesday evenings from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The farmers market will be located between Planet Fitness and Dollar Tree.

“When the Parkway Plaza owners approached us about adding a farmers market, we jumped at the opportunity,” said Kivi Leroux Miller, president of the Lexington Farmers Market. “We love the idea of having a farmers market at this location, right off the interstate and in a bustling shopping area that so many people already visit regularly.”

Visitors to the farmers market can select from locally grown flowers, fruits and vegetables, honey, eggs, baked goods and snacks, as well as handmade crafts.

“We welcome the Lexington Farmers Market to Lexington Parkway Plaza,” said Heidi Hatfield Weir, Lexington Parkway Plaza owner. “The Farmers Market is one of many recent improvements to the shopping center. We hope that the weekly market will be a source of pleasure, healthful food and a gathering place for the community. Please come out to support our local farmers and craftspeople!”

Miller expects that as with most new locations, it will take some time for vendors and customers to make it a regular part of their routine, but she expects interest and participation to grow quickly and significantly. On May 23rd, customers can expect to find Crossings, Klymer Ridge Farm, Rabble & Rise Baking Company, BAM Snacks, Pawsitively Serene, Rierson Farm, and other vendors.

“We are still working through our plans,” Miller added, “but we hope this will turn into a great little place to hang out and enjoy the early evenings this summer while shopping for fresh, local food.”

The Lexington Farmers Market is a producer-only market open Saturday mornings May through October at the historic train depot in Lexington. USDA grant funds are allowing the farmers market to explore additional market locations and times throughout the week, including Parkway Plaza. SNAP EBT is accepted.

The Lexington Farmers Market is a 100% producers-only market, which means the people who sell the product are the ones who grew, raised or produced the product you are purchasing. The market is limited to certified growers who live within Davidson County or the  surrounding counties of Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph or Rowan counties. All new vendors are subject to inspection and certification by their county Cooperative Extension.
