Lexington Fire Department responds to house fire

On July 23rd at approximately 8:44 a.m. the Lexington Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 222 Red Maple Ln. in Lexington.

The incident required coordinated efforts from multiple agencies including Linwood Fire Department, Davidson County EMS, the Lexington Fire Marshal’s Office and Davidson County Fire Marshal's Office.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered light smoke coming from the roof and eaves of the residence. Swift action was taken as crews made entry into the home, where they located and identified the source of the fire. A hose line was promptly deployed to extinguish the fire.

During the operation, one firefighter was treated on scene for heat exhaustion and was subsequently released on site. No other injuries were reported. The fire resulted in damage to the interior of the home from both fire and smoke.

As a precautionary measure, utilities to the residence were disconnected. The Lexington Fire Marshal's Office has initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire.
