LEXINGTON, NC – The Lexington Fire Department responded last night at  approximately 9:30 pm to a fire on Sunnyside Drive, where firefighters found a single-family, reportedly vacant, home engulfed in flames.

Upon arrival, crews immediately began to work on extinguishing the fire to limit  additional damage to the home. Firefighters began to check the house for possible  occupants and did not locate any. Through a quick response, firefighters were able  to keep the fire from spreading to the remaining home.

Crews extinguished the fire and cleared the scene shortly after 1:00 am on  Thursday. The home sustained substantial smoke, fire and water damage and is  uninhabitable.

The Lexington Fire Marshal’s Office and Davidson County Arson Task Force are  investigating the cause of the fire.
