Local nonprofits receive Novant educational funding
WINSTON-SALEM, NC, July 28, 2022 – Novant Health Community Engagement is proud to announce that it has awarded $963,865 in charitable contributions in support of education initiatives to more than 50 community partners* in Charlotte, Winston-Salem and coastal North Carolina. The health system provides philanthropic support to community-based programs that address identified health and social needs vital to each community’s well-being, including developing healthy communities and expanding opportunity through education. Novant Health has provided nearly $2 million in charitable contributions to community partners over the past seven months.
“Responding to the needs of our communities is central to the mission of Novant Health, as we recognize that moving the needle on health outcomes requires directly addressing social determinants of health,” said Dr. Jerome Williams Jr., senior vice president for strategic growth and consumer engagement, Novant Health. “We are proud to come alongside these community partners who already have great work underway to further support educational opportunities for individuals across the Novant Health footprint.”
The most recent round of charitable contributions is aligned with Novant Health’s expanding opportunity through education investment priority. This priority exists to build the pipeline of future health care workers and foster equity and upward mobility through educational opportunities. Through strategic investments in nonprofit partnerships, the health system seeks to support early childhood (ages 0 - 5) development programs, enhance workforce development opportunities for communities that need them the most and enhance college and career readiness in the medical and health sciences career pathways.
Novant Health will begin accepting applications for its Developing Healthy Communities contribution cycle Aug 1. Community partners interested in applying should visit NovantHealth.org/SocialResponsibility.
