Thomasville Police: Investigate hit-and-run crash on Hasty School Road

Police are asking for the public's help finding information about a hit-and-run crash on Hasty School Road Thursday evening.

At about 8:20 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2023, a vehicle traveling east in the 900 block of Hasty School Road struck a pedestrian who was also walking east. The collision knocked Austin Cecil, 39, of Thomasville, to the ground. The vehicle never stopped and was last seen traveling east on Hasty School Road toward National Hwy.

Cecil was able to walk to Sheetz, 1340 National Hwy, where employees called 911. Cecil was transported to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital by Davidson County EMS. He is currently listed in stable condition.

Police recovered a passenger side mirror on the side of the road that belongs to a Steel Blue Metallic 2003-2007 Honda Pilot.
