MLK-Social Action Committee organizers have faced unique challenges for the past two years in honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “We are prayerful that it can take place,” said committee chair Dr. George B. Jackson, pastor of Citadel of Faith Christian Fellowship and chairman of the Martin Luther King Social Action Committee. Organizers have faced snow for the past two Saturdays scheduled.

Featuring the 2022 theme of “No More Business as Usual,” the Thomasville MLK hosted a series of live-streamed events to herald the life and legacy of King the weekend leading up to the holiday. In person events were rescheduled.

The committee has provided more than $170,000 in scholarship awards to students across the state. Eleven contestants are expected to participate this year.

In addition to the contest Rev. Calvin E. Smith will be honored with MLK Service Award — DavidsonLocal.com.
