Group to host Mad Hatter's Tea Party to support families facing brain disorders

Several community groups are using a fictional character from Lewis Carroll's 1865 book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland to address real issues facing families. The theme is “Fall Through the Looking Glass.”

The Greensboro Pilot Club will host its first Mad Hatter Tea Party on Oct 19, 2024, at The Thomasville Woman's Club located at 15 Elliott Drive. Tickets are $50. The Pilot Club of Greensboro is a 501c (3) non-profit organization. According to their website, the Pilot Clubs further support the service of Pilot International by encouraging brain safety and health, preparing youth for service and supporting those who care for the welfare of others.

The Pilot Club is passionate about helping people affected by disabilities and brain disorders and expanding support throughout Davidson County by working with the Thomasville Women's Club and the Davidson County law enforcement agencies.

The group participates in Project Lifesaver, which provides support to caregivers who care for individuals impacted by disabilities and brain disorders. This includes pick-me-up programs and random acts of kindness. Organizer Kimberly Oliver said in a statement, "Support from the community by volunteering, donations, and supporting fundraisers makes our reach far more significant, and we can positively impact more lives."

This event is the first year for the event, organizers hope to make this an annual fundraising event.
