National Weather Service issues local weather warnings

Tropical cyclone Debby has causes major weather challenges for the south which have extended up the eastern coast. As a result The National Weather Service has issued warnings.

There has been a hazardous weather outlook issued for our local area in the following counties:

  • Person

  • Granville

  • Vance

  • Warren

  • Halifax

  • Forsyth

  • Guilford

  • Alamance

  • Orange

  • Durham

  • Davidson

  • Randolph

  • Chatham

  • Stanly

  • Montgomery

  • Anson.

Hazardous weather is not expected at this time but you should be aware and prepared Wednesday through Monday. Please listen to NOAA Weather Radio or go to weather.gov on the Internet for more information about the hazards.

Tropical cyclone Debby will bring a threat of heavy rain of 6-12 inches through Friday, with locally higher amounts possible.

Rainfall of this magnitude will have the potential to cause extreme flooding, and may prompt evacuations and rescues.
