‘Tis the season for communities to gather in the spirit of Christmas. Grab your chairs and a blanket, as the Thomasville Tourism Commission would like to invite everyone to come out and experience a magical day in Thomasville this Saturday, Dec. 10 for its annual Christmas parade. The parade begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. on Main St.
This year will feature free entertainment for the kids including face paintings and balloon animals, located at the Depot (44 W Main St), Thomasville’s historic train station. Guests are encouraged to bring their little ones between 10:30 and 12:30 p.m. Leading the way, this year's Grand Marshal for the day will be none other than NASCAR driver Timmy Hill of Hill Motorsports. It will additionally feature 115 parade participants and a stilt walker.
Marketing Coordinator Hope Weaver said, “We just want everyone who comes out to visit Thomasville to have a magical day here. December is a special month and we have so many festive events happening. To find out what's happening around Thomasville, please visit our website and our Facebook page.”
The fun doesn’t stop here! Following the parade, Thomasville welcomes you, your family and friends out to enjoy even more of what the city has to offer. It is the season to be jolly and Thomasville wants to bring joy. Feel free to stop by the Christmas tree and its landmark, the Big Chair, to take holiday pictures as the chair is decorated in holiday cheer.
Looking for Christmas gifts? Thomasville has antique, vintage and locally-handmade items at many of its retail venues. Shopping brings glee, and no doubt, pangs of hunger and there is a wide variety of restaurants that will satisfy anyone's culinary desires.
Before Thomasville bids you all a goodnight, Memorial United Methodist Church is hosting a Star of Bethlehem drive-through nativity from 5:30-8:30 at 101 Randolph St. This event is free and open to the public.
May this warm holiday season bid the end of 2022 on a cheerful note and give everyone hope for a great new year ahead.
