New day and times for Lexington Farmers Market at Parkway Plaza

The Lexington Farmers Market (LFM) at Parkway Plaza is returning this summer with a new day and hours of operation.

Beginning Wednesday, June 12, the LFM will be open from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 19 Plaza Parkway in Lexington. The market will be located between Planet Fitness and Dollar Tree, operating each Wednesday until concluding in mid-August. “Lexington Farmers Market is excited to continue the partnership with Parkway Plaza this upcoming summer,” said LFM President, Jennifer Rosecrans. “The Parkway Plaza owners have been wonderful to work with as we continue to grow this specialty market. They’re dedicated to serving the community by working with LFM to bring fresh, local, farmers market products to the area.

Last year’s market operated on Tuesday evenings. However, weather and vendor challenges prompted a change this season. “Based on customer and farmer feedback, we decided to adjust the time and day of the market,” noted Rosecrans.

Visitors to the market can expect a wide variety of offerings including farmers that sell chicken, pork, beef and vegetables. According to Rosecrans, they’re “planning for more vendors, with greater shopping diversity and experience.” There will also be bakers and artisan crafters in attendance. “Selah Bollinger and Samantha Snyder will co-manage the market, which brings a more robust shopping experience.”

The market will accept SNAP EBT. Recipients of SNAP benefits (also known as food stamps) can double their spending power at the market. For every SNAP dollar, customers will receive $2 in tokens to spend with vendors. Recipients can double up to $20 of SNAP benefits per day. To swipe a SNAP EBT card in exchange for tokens, see the market manager on duty.

The LFM will not operate a morning market behind Conrad & Hinkle this summer.
