Patricia Baker named Department of Social Services NC Director of the Year
Patricia Baker of Davidson County was named the 2024-25 DSS Director of the Year at the North Carolina Association of County Directors of Social Services (NCACDSS) Annual Meeting held at Wrightsville Beach, NC.
Davidson County DSS Board Chair and County Commissioner Ms. Karen Watford and Clerk to the Board of Commissioners, Ms. Debbie Harris, were in attendance to give Ms. Baker her award.
Ms. Baker has been a highly, effective social services leader for more than 20 years. She began her career in Social Service at Mecklenburg County DSS in 1990.
Ms. Baker has been a consistent and solid leader for the North Carolina Association of County Directors of Social Services. She has served as a co-chair of the Association’s Committee on Economic Services Programs for more than 7 years. Ms. Baker is a strong advocate for citizens of the State and she assists the Association with many challenges in the area of economic services, child welfare, and adult services. She also serves her county well in other areas including being the Board of Commissioners appointed representative on the Partners Board of Directors.
Ms. Baker’s dedication, accomplishments, competencies, and passion for every aspect of the social Services profession made her most deserving of this Award. Ms. Baker truly embodies NCACDSS’ motto of being a future-oriented source of leadership. When it comes to protecting vulnerable children, adults, and the disabled as well as ensuring eligible families’ nutritional and medical needs are met, she is a leader of which the citizens of Davidson County and North Carolina can be proud.
Baker lives in Denver, NC with her husband and four-legged friends.
