About James Carr:

James was adopted at the age of 5 and raised in Lexington NC by his parents James & Virginia Carr. James' commitment to service came from his father, who served in the segregated Army Air Corps, and his mother, Virginia Carr, who grew up during the Great Depression and served as a member of the Women’s Army Corps during the Second World War.

Coming from a working-class family, James held jobs in a variety of industries including textile, dairy, and retail, before entering the military. Having served in the military for 4 years, James is a proven fighter. His service included a deployment to England where he stood on the frontlines in the fight against communism.

Following his service to our country, James used the G.I. bill to pay his way through college at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to obtain a degree in Accounting.  Upon graduation, he obtained his CPA certification and worked in corporate accounting.  Later, James pursued his real passion by transitioning to IT.  He now works as an IT consultant and resides in Harrisburg, NC with his wife and children.

James believes that his real life work experience more than makes up for any perceived lack of political experience.  James has built a life for himself and his family working in blue and white collar jobs, serving in the Air Force, and serving his community.  James understands that in order to keep a job you have to be a problem solver. You also have to be able to work with others who make up the incredible diversity that is America.  He believes that his experiences makes him well prepared for the realities of politics.
