Political Opinion: From Sen. Jarvis' Desk - April 29, 2022

Dear Friends,

We hope this last week of April has been a good one! Short session is almost here, but we are still hard at work. Early voting started yesterday, April 28th, and will go until May 14th.

In news about redistricting matters, one of the special master's assistants, Sam Wang, is under investigation for alleged data manipulation, according to the New Jersey Globe.

My office is please to announce over $50,000,000 added to our district that was included in the budget. These funds cover an array of things to include infrastructure that has been long overdue.

The judge in the Leandro Case, Michael Robinson, has determined that the state will have to pay $785 million, down from a court-ordered $1.75 billion, to an education-related fund.

Mike Causey, the North Carolina Department of Insurance Commissioner, has appointed Jerry Daniels as director of human resources. Additionally, he appointed Jason Tyson as director of communications. Barry Smith was promoted to the role of deputy director of communications and safety officer.

The Golden LEAF Foundation, a North Carolina nonprofit dedicated to serving rural areas, is looking for partner organizations to help with food distribution. The foundation was received $10 million from the state budget to recruit organizations and help with distribution.
